A global citizen, a unique perspective.
Edith Asibey, Principal
Edith has 16 years of experience helping organizations become better strategists, planners and evaluate their effectiveness. The tools she designs are free and available online, to ensure that organizations big and small, in the US and abroad, can access them.
A seasoned professional with extensive international experience, first realized the power of communication strategy early in her career, when she was raising awareness about environmental problems in Paraguay. Working in nonprofits also taught Edith how to make them more effective, and she directed the first institution that provided management training to nonprofit executives in South America.
After South America came Miami, where Edith led the communication division of the AVINA Foundation, an international grantmaker that supports thousands of social entrepreneurs around the world. Edith’s job took her to nearly every country in Latin America, where she relied upon her multi-cultural background to develop innovative communication strategies that reflected the diversity–cultural and linguistic–of AVINA’s partners.
Following AVINA, Edith was hand-picked to join NetAid, a New York-based nonprofit that engages youth in fighting global poverty. While at NetAid she held several senior positions, including the role of Acting President. Under her leadership, NetAid developed public education and advocacy campaigns that mobilized hundreds of thousands of people. These campaigns illustrated the connection between lack of education and extreme poverty, and raised much-needed resources for education projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Edith holds a Master of Arts in Media Studies from Stanford University and undergraduate degrees in Biology and Education from the University of São Paulo in Brazil. She maintains her commitment to education through teaching and developing workshops for a wide variety of audiences. Edith’s recent writings have been featured in several publications.
Born to a Ghanaian father and an Italian-Paraguayan mother, Edith was brought up in Italy, Paraguay and Brazil – a background to which she attributes her rich multi-cultural perspective. She has native fluency in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, languages she uses on a regular basis to navigate the stores and restaurants of her home, New York City.
